Tour Plan

Day 1

Toowoomba is a approximately a 2.5 hour drive from Moreton Bay. Located in the Darling Downs Region of Southern Queensland, this beautiful city is home to immaculate gardens, charming buildings and so much more.

Pack the car and set off for a long weekend of sightseeing and exploring. Make the most of your journey out west by stopping on the way for a bite to eat. Brisbane has some of the best cafes around and you would be remiss if you didn't stop in at one for breakfast. Along the way you'll pass the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary* where, if you choose, you can stop in for a visit.

*Bookings are essentials. Adults tickets are $42.

Arriving in Toowoomba around lunch time, you have the remainder of the day to get acquainted with the town.

If you're interested in soaking up some history, head to Cobb and Co Museum. Home of the National Carriage Collection, the museum focuses on horse-drawn vehicles and heritage trades.

Check into your accommodation, Burke and Wills Hotel, in the afternoon before heading back out to explore some more. Go for a drive around town and immerse yourself in the charming neighbourhoods. Be sure to keep an eye out for Toowoomba's street art along Street Art Trail. Neil Street has over 50 murals on display and you could easily spend the afternoon getting lost in art.

Day 2

If you love flowers Laurel Bank Park is a must. Stroll through the gardens which are featured in Toowoomba's annual Carnival of Flowers. With year-round flora you are bound to see some beautiful displays.

If you are a keen golfer City Gold Club is the place to be. Enjoy 9 or 18 holes on lush green lawns or have some fun in the Mini Golf Course or Driving Range.

Looking for something interesting to do? You can't go past Toowoomba's Salt Cave*. De-stress in the pink-tinged, specially-built, salt caves. The caves disperse dry salt throughout the room in high concentrations, which can help with the management of asthma, cold and flu, respiratory allergies, cystic fibrosis, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and acne. Visitors also report relief from chronic stress and fatigue, more tranquil sleep and improved general wellbeing. This is the perfect place to visit if you are looking to really unwind.

*Bookings are essentials and a full price list can be found on their website.

If you love wine, stop in at Preston Peak Wines after lunch. Taste some of Toowoomba's best wines while overlooking the Lockyer Valley. If you aren't too full from your picnic, you can indulge in a cheese platter during your wine tasting.

After a calming day of good food and wine, enjoy an incredible meal at one of Toowoomba's local restaurants.

Day 4

If you're wanting to get the blood flowing and do something active, Table Top Mountain offers views of the Lockyer Valley and surrounds and is the perfect way to end your stay in Toowoomba. We recommend this for anyone who is physically capable of managing the walk. Head to the mountain in the morning to enjoy the cool morning air. The walk takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

After completing the walk, head back to your accommodation to freshen up before checking out and going for a late breakfast.

The Australia part of our trip has sadly finished. In a word, it has been amazing! We owe a lot to our travel agent, who asked the right questions, gave us insightful guidance when planning this trip and basically ironed out the wrinkles we would have undoubtedly experienced had it not been for her assistance. You will discover that her professionalism and attention to detail is world class and her customer service is second to none.

We had a terrific family holiday arranged by Redcliffe Cruise Travel and we wouldn't hesitate to have them assisting us with our next trip. Because we like you guys! Because you are a local company. Because we like having an agent behind us in the event things go wrong on the journey.

As popular as do-it-yourself travel is and as savvy as we are with all things online, there are some aspects of travel that are much better dealt with through a travel agency and someone who really knows what they are doing. Redcliffe Cruise and Travel are so knowledgeable and experienced in dealing with those aspects of travel that are challenging. It's good to work through someone who knows what they are doing and who take as much interest in you having a great holiday as you do!!
