Best Beaches in Queensland...and beyond

Australia is home to some of the World's most beautiful beaches and luckily for us, many of them are located right here in Queensland!

Take a dive into our favourite beaches in Queensland and get inspired for your next beach break!

1. Whitehaven Beach - Whitsundays, QLD

Stretching over 7kms, Whitehaven Beach is regarded as one of the World's most beautiful beaches. With pristine azure waters and pure white sand, this unspoiled haven really is in a league of its own.

Journey to the northern end of Whitehaven Beach to Hill Inlet where the waters move revealing stunning swirls of turquoise and cerulean as the tide shifts over the white sand.

One of the biggest islands in the Whitsundays, Whitsundays Island's Whitehaven Beach does not disappoint! Access this stunning beach via catamaran, yacht, helicopter or seaplane and spend your day feeling the sand beneath your feet and the water on your skin.

2. Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Main Beach, Mermaid Beach, Burleigh Heads, Coolangatta and more! - Gold Coast, QLD

If there's one thing the Gold Coast is well known for, it is its beaches. From north to south, Gold Coast produces some of Queensland's most iconic beaches.

Spend your days sunbathing on the sand, surfing the waves or wading through the water as you soak up that Gold Coast atmosphere.

Probably the most well known beach on the Gold Coast is Surfers Paradise. In the center of the hustle and bustle of Cavill Ave, this iconic tourist hub puts the Gold Coast on the map for tourists and locals alike.

Just down the road from Surfers Paradise is Broachbeach. Though located just outside of the overly embellished Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach is still just as glitzy. With ample space to throw your towel down on the sand and close enough to local eats for you to grab some food, this is definitely the place to be.

Mermaid Beach is known to be in the upper class of the beach social status. The stretch from Mermaid Beach to Nobby Beach is lined with exquisite beachside homes and high end suburbs. No need to splash cash here to enjoy the beauty that is Mermaid Beach, simply take a stroll along the waterfront and enjoy the peaceful surrounds.

Burleigh Heads is the Gold Coast's very own Byron Bay. A fusion of bohemian and surf styles make Burleigh Heads the place to be for anyone wanting good times and good vibes. Head down to Burleigh Heads and soak up the sun at this local hot spot.

After a visit to Coolangatta you'll finally be convinced to make a sea change. Located at the southern most tip of the Gold Coast, just shy of the NSW border, this sparkling, sandy cluster of beaches make up the Coolangatta coastline. Enjoy a walk along the boardwalk from Greenmount Beach to Coolangatta Beach for stunning coastal views, stopping at lookout points along the way. At the southern most tip of Coolangatta, straddling the border of Queensland and NSW, is where you'll find Point Danger and Snapper Rocks. Famous for being one of Australia's best point breaks, this truly is a surfer's paradise and definitely worth a visit.

You can't go wrong when it comes to beaches when you visit the Gold Coast. From high-octane surf to slow coastal bliss, there is a beach for everyone.

Tallebudgera Creek, Gold Coast, QLD

The Gold Coast doesn't only have beautiful beaches, it also has striking blue creeks. If you're looking for somewhere slightly more relaxed, Tallebudgera Creek is the perfect option. With no big waves and lifeguards patrolling the creek, this is an ideal location for families with small children.

You'll find this slice of Eden between Burleigh and Palm Beach. Park your car on the Palm Beach side of the creek for easy access. If you want a truly breathtaking experience, park your car at Burleigh Hill and walk 15 minutes around the headland, along the trail where the creek and beaches first greet you through the trees.

Separated from the busy Gold Coast beaches, this quiet oasis is the perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy a little slice of heaven.

3. Noosa Main Beach, Mooloolaba Beach, and more! (let's be real, all the beaches on the Sunshine Coast are amazing) - Sunshine Coast, QLD

The Sunshine Coast definitely lives up to its name with blue skies and sandy beaches year round, this is a beach lovers paradise. It's hard not to fall in love with this coastal haven the minute you set foot on the sand. Noosa Main Beach if perfect for people or all ages! Relax on the beach, enjoy the surf or go for a stroll along the boardwalk. Stop by one of the restaurants or cafes lining the beachfront and pop into any of the boutiques for a spot of shopping. Location is everything here in Noosa and Noosa Main Beach is definitely the heart and soul of this beautiful headland.

While in Noosa, don't forget to stop by the Noosa Fairy Pools. These ethereal rock pools will have you feeling a sense of magic the minute your eyes lay on them. A 2km walk along the Coast Track and a climb down some rocks will bring you to the hidden rock pools.

Mooloolaba Beach is well known as one of the most popular beaches on the Sunshine Coast. Popular for its central location, this is a hot spot for the younger generations and families alike. Looking for a beautiful spot to enjoy a picnic? Head down to Alexandra Headland and roll out the picnic rug on the green grassy patch next to the Surf Club and enjoy the views.

For dog lovers, there a several locations your furry friends are welcome. Moffat Beach and Coolum Beach are great spots to let your four-legged friend run through the water but, if you're looking for calmer waters, take the paddle boards down to Maroochydore River and enjoy an afternoon paddle with your pup!

Wurtulla is the Sunshine Coast's little hidden gem. A local favourite, it is ideal for anyone wanting to enjoy the Sunshine Coast sun and surf without the busy crowds. This is also a great spot for surfers so pack your boards and enjoy almost year-round swells.

The Australia part of our trip has sadly finished. In a word, it has been amazing! We owe a lot to our travel agent, who asked the right questions, gave us insightful guidance when planning this trip and basically ironed out the wrinkles we would have undoubtedly experienced had it not been for her assistance.
